Dr. Sharon Griffith

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Sharon Griffith to the Brogden Middle School family as our new 6th Grade Assistant Principal!

Dr. Griffith brings nearly three decades of experience and an unwavering passion for middle school education. As she begins her 28th year in public education, she brings a diverse background in both classroom teaching and educational leadership. Her career began in New York City, where she taught grades 4–8 before relocating to Durham. Here, she served for 11 years as a middle school teacher before stepping into district leadership roles as a middle school literacy specialist and K–12 literacy coordinator. Most recently, Dr. Griffith transitioned into school administration, where her dedication to student growth and academic excellence continues to shine.

Dr. Griffith holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. She also earned Master’s Degrees in School Administration from North Carolina Central University and Curriculum & Instruction from Fordham University. Her professional credentials include National Board Certification in English Language Arts for Adolescents, ages 11–15—highlighting her strong commitment to high-quality instruction and student engagement.

Beyond her impressive resume, Dr. Griffith is a lifelong learner and avid reader. She loves getting lost in a good book, rarely misses a night of playing Wordle, enjoys spending time with her family, and finds balance through Hot Yoga.

Dr. Griffith believes that middle school is a critical time to positively impact students through strong relationships, meaningful academic experiences, and enriching activities. She’s excited to work alongside our families, staff, and community to make the 2025–2026 school year a memorable and successful one.
