I’m Dr. Sharon Griffith, and I’m honored to serve as your 6th Grade Assistant Principal. This year marks my 28th in public education. My journey began in New York City, where I taught grades 4–8, before making North Carolina home and spending 11 incredible years teaching middle school right here in Durham. I later transitioned to Central Office, supporting schools as a middle school literacy specialist and K–12 literacy coordinator. My passion for student achievement and school improvement led me to pursue school leadership.
I hold a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University, along with Master’s Degrees in School Administration from North Carolina Central University and Curriculum & Instruction from Fordham University. I’m also proud to be National Board Certified in English Language Arts for Adolescents (ages 11–15).
Outside of work, I’m a proud book lover who enjoys getting lost in great reads, playing Wordle most nights, spending quality time with my family, and practicing Hot Yoga. I believe middle school is a powerful time to shape young minds and hearts, and I’m excited for a year of growth, collaboration, and meaningful experiences here at #OurBrogden.
Let’s make it a great year!
