Our academic programs for the 2025–2026 school year reflect Durham Public Schools’ commitment to excellence, equity, and opportunity for all students, right here in the heart of our school community.

What Students Can Expect:

• Rigorous Core Academics: All Brogden students engage in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies with a team of caring teachers who provide academic instruction, enrichment, and support.

• Electives and Discovery Classes: Our students explore a wide range of interests through visual and performing arts, Career and Technical Education (CTE), healthful living, and technology.

• High School Credit Opportunities: Eligible students may earn high school credits in Math I, World Languages, and select elective courses while still in middle school.

Dual Language Immersion at Brogden:

We are proud to be a DLI school, offering a Spanish-English dual language program that supports biliteracy, academic achievement, and intercultural competence. DLI students receive Science and Social Studies instruction in Spanish, building fluency in both languages and deepening their understanding of academic content. Whether your student began DLI in elementary school or is new to the program, our staff is committed to fostering a high-quality bilingual learning environment.

Brogden provides a variety of student services, including:

• Exceptional Children’s Services (EC)

• Academically and/or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) programming

• English Learner support and access to sheltered instruction

• Co-located mental health services

• Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons for all students

Beyond the Classroom:

• Students can participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities, clubs, and athletics, including basketball, soccer, cheerleading, volleyball, and more. We also offer after-school opportunities that extend learning and foster connection.
