EmpowerHer: Turning Potential Into Power

Program Overview

EmpowerHer is Southern School of Energy & Sustainability’s signature mentoring and leadership program designed to support, guide, and uplift young women. Rooted in sisterhood, scholarship, service, and personal growth, EmpowerHer provides a safe and inspiring space for students to build confidence, strengthen character, and develop essential life and leadership skills. Through meaningful mentorship and purposeful programming, EmpowerHer equips female students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our Mission

The mission of EmpowerHer is to empower young women to embrace confidence, character, and community. We are committed to nurturing leadership potential, fostering self-awareness, and providing the tools needed to excel in school, future careers, and life. EmpowerHer encourages each student to show up as her best self—boldly, authentically, and unapologetically.

The “Mirror Check”

Mirror Check is the signature theme within the EmpowerHer program—created as a reminder that growth begins with self-reflection.
Through Mirror Checks, mentees pause to evaluate their actions, mindset, goals, and personal accountability. During meetings, journal prompts, and mentor check-ins, students ask themselves:

  • How am I showing up today?

  • Am I aligned with my goals?

  • What do I need to adjust to be the best version of myself?

Mirror Check reinforces the belief that empowerment starts within, and that every young woman has the power to reflect, reset, and rise.
