For the 2025-26 school year, students that attend School for Creative Studies will have the opportunity to attend the ENCORE! afterschool program at Lucas Middle School.  After a family register online, our office will communicate with your Data Manager and ask them to input their afternoon “end bus location” as Lucas middle school so they can be added to the bus route to be transported to Lucas.  It usually takes 2-3 days after registering before they are added to the bus route.

The program operates from 3:20 p.m.- 5:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday, September 8, 2025 - May 14, 2026.  Programs do not operate on Fridays, early release days or teacher workdays.  Here is some other general information about the program that can also be found on our website:  DPS ENCORE! afterschool program

  • Registration/Cost:  Cost is $100 for the entire school year and families can register at Click Here... Online Registration for ALL Programs

  • Attendance Policy: Students are expected to attend as often as possible (preferably everyday) to gain the most for the program.  Our minimum attendance policy requires students to attend at least two full days a week or an hour each day of the week. Due to limited space at each program, we want to maximize attendance in the program, which is based on our average daily attendance.

  • Student athletes / club participants can fully participate in ENCORE! While also playing a sport or attending a club.

  • Buses:  Bus transportation is provided from each school program, if the students are actively participating in ENCORE

  • Scholarships:  Available to any student with limited means or circumstances.

Crystal Douglas our Secondary Specialist supervises our secondary before/afterschool programs and will be working with you and SCS to recruit students for the program.  She will have some materials available at the Open House on Friday, July 18.  I will be sending out an email to Ms. Sanchez to inform her that SCS students will be attending the program at her school.  She is familiar with this type of collaboration as we did something similar with Little River K-8 and Lucas for several years.
