Student Device Policy Support
We understand that many families have questions and concerns regarding the new district policy requiring student devices to remain at school. Please know that we are committed to ensuring every Rogers-Herr scholar has the support and opportunities needed to stay successful.
To help students complete assignments and stay on track, we have built dedicated support into the school day. Each morning from 8:00–8:30 a.m., all students who arrive during that time will have access to a supervised Study Hall where they can complete assignments, receive assistance, or catch up on missed work. In addition, each grade level will implement a RAMs ROCK Day, providing students with time in each core class to make up missing assignments, receive additional support, and strengthen their understanding of the content.
Our goal is to remove barriers and provide every student with multiple opportunities to be successful. Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to support our scholars.
Online Payments
We want to share an important update regarding our online payment system. Durham Public Schools has transitioned from OSP (Online School Payments) to Givebacks. As a result, Rogers-Herr Middle School will no longer accept online payments through OSP.
Beginning immediately, all online payments—including school fees, locker rentals, field trips, athletic fees, fine arts fees, donations, fundraisers, and other school-related purchases—must be made through our Rogers-Herr Givebacks Store.

Miss RHMS Scholarship Pageant
Rogers-Herr Middle School is excited to announce the return of the Miss RHMS Scholarship Pageant! This leadership experience provides RHMS students with the opportunity to build confidence, strengthen public speaking skills, develop leadership abilities, and represent the RHMS community.
The Miss RHMS Scholarship Pageant is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who are interested in developing as leaders. Participants will receive mentorship and preparation while developing skills in interview, talent, fitness & wellness, onstage question, and personal presentation.
The selected Miss RHMS for the 2026-2027 school year will receive:

$500 Educational Scholarship
Gift cards and recognition awards for runners-up
Additional leadership and service opportunities

Athletic Update
7th and 8th grade students interested in playing football must have a current physical on file prior to conditioning or tryouts. Interested students may pick-up a physical packet in the main office. Voluntary conditioning will be held August 3 - August 7. Athletes must have a physical on file prior to August 3 to begin skills development and conditioning. Study hall begins at 3:20pm immediately following dismissal. All athletes will report to the auditorium right after dismissal. Parents should pick up participating students by 5:30pm. Effective Communication
Open and consistent communication between home and school is essential to every child’s success. If you have an immediate concern or question, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher first, as they are the primary point of contact and best positioned to address classroom-related matters.
Should additional support be needed after speaking with the teacher, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s grade-level administrator. We are here to partner with you to ensure the best possible experience for your child.

Morning Arrival:
Student safety is our highest priority. We have recently observed students being dropped off on the side of the road or crossing traffic from across the street to enter campus. This creates a serious safety concern for our students, families, and staff. Please do not drop your child off on the side of the street or from across the roadway.
All students should be dropped off using the designated RHMS carpool route and procedures. These procedures are in place to ensure that students arrive on campus safely and to help maintain an orderly flow of traffic.
Additionally, when entering the carpool line, please follow the directions of our staff members. You will be directed to pull all the way forward before unloading your child. This process helps move vehicles through the line efficiently and reduces traffic congestion on the main highway, allowing more cars to enter the campus safely.
We ask for your full cooperation in following RHMS carpool procedures each day. Adhering to these expectations helps ensure the safety of every student and family arriving on campus.
Afternoon Dismissal:
We anticipate long carpool lines the first couple of weeks of school. Here are a few things you may do to help ensure the smoothest and safest carpool process possible:
Do not arrive before 3:00pm. Arriving before 3:00 only contributes to the backup on the main road before carpool begins. The carpool line will not begin before 3:20pm. All buses must be released before the carpool line may begin.
Remain in your vehicle. Parents should not walk up to the door or gather in front of the building. Carpool students will not be released out the front door after 2:45pm.
Display the name placard in your front window.
Inform others of the car pool process. If a relative or different person is picking up your child from the carpool for the first time, inform them of the current carpool procedures, remaining in their vehicle and expect a long wait time before they arrive so they are not alarmed when they arrive and see the line.
Be calm, kind and patient. We are working diligently to ensure students come down quickly. Parents have two options, carpool or bus transportation. If you do not want your child to ride the bus for whatever reason and you are choosing carpool. Patience is key!
