Broken Computer Changing to New Computer

We are thrilled to share some exciting news: RHMS will be receiving over 580 brand-new student Chromebooks, complete with protective cases and chargers! These devices will be distributed January 20th-22nd with each grade level having a designated Chromebook swap day.

Here are a few important details:

  • Students who already have the newer, light grey Chromebooks will receive a protective case instead of a new computer, as those devices are still under warranty.

  • New Chromebooks and chargers will only be issued if a student turns in their old Chromebook and/or charger. No Chromebook and/or charger on swap day = no upgrade.

  • Every student will receive a case to help keep their device safe. Cases should be kept on Chromsbooks at all times.

Collection/Distribution Schedule:

  • Tuesday, January 20 – 8th Grade

  • Wednesday, January 21 – 7th Grade

  • Thursday, January 22 – 6th Grade

**Note students who do not turn in their chromebook and/or charger on their assigned day will not receive an upgraded chromebook and/or charger.

As we roll out these new devices, we want to emphasize the importance of good Chromebook care habits:

  • Always carry the Chromebook in a backpack or case when moving between classes. Avoid eating or drinking near the device.

  • Close the Chromebook carefully and store it properly when not in use.

  • No stickers, decorations, or writing on the Chromebook.

Please note: The DPS Chromebook Policy remains in effect. Students are allowed one accident per school year that DPS will repair. If a student has a second accident, they will become a day user and will no longer be permitted to take their device home.

We are excited about this upgrade and appreciate your support in helping students take care of their new technology. Together, we can ensure these devices remain reliable learning tools for all.
