Principal’s Update for the Week of 1/4/26

Dear Rogers-Herr Middle School Families and Guardians,

We hope all of our families and scholars had an excellent winter break. We are excited about jumping right into the third quarter and finishing the year out strong. We look forward to seeing our scholars back bright and early Monday morning, January 5, 2026.

Important Information About DPS Magnet Schools and CTE Pathways Applications:

The 2026-27 Lottery Application will be available from Monday, January 5, 2026 through Friday, January 30, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Families interested in applying for a magnet or CTE Pathway option may do so by visiting www.dpsnc.net/magnet to learn more about the various programs available and submit the lottery application.

Lottery Application Assistance Day will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 9-12 at the Minnie Forte Staff Development Center. Families requesting assistance with submitting their applications are welcome to attend.

Here are the key details you need to know:

Current Rogers-Herr Students:

  • 6th and 7th grade students DO NOT need to reapply

  • If you have siblings who wish to attend, you must enter them in the DPS lottery

  • 8th grade students interested in attending a school outside their assigned base school must apply through the lottery

Report Cards

Second quarter report cards will be sent home with students Friday, January 9, 2026. Please review the report card with your child. Discuss celebrations as well as any areas of improvement needed. As a family, set goals for the third nine weeks as well as specific action steps to accomplish the third nine weeks goals. Please contact your child’s teacher for a conference at any time.
