Principal’s Update Week of: 8-24-25

As we approach week 6, we’re cruising right along and building momentum each day. It’s exciting to see our Rams pushing themselves with persistence and energy, making real strides in their learning.

Thank you for the teamwork and dedication that makes this possible. Together, we are creating a culture of growth and achievement that will carry our students far.

Parents and guardians, we ask that you remain patient with us regarding grades. Infinite Campus and Canvas are not working together right now, and this again puts a delay on progress reports. We are hopeful that a resolution is close.

"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out." – Robert Collier

Let’s keep believing, pushing forward, and finishing this week strong!

Protecting Our Students Act

In compliance with the new Protecting Our Students Act, Durham Public Schools is committed to ensuring that our students understand how to recognize and report inappropriate interactions with adults at school.

During the week of August 25, all middle school and high school students will watch an informational safety video from the Center for Safer Schools. The video explains how to identify concerning behavior and encourages students to seek help if they feel unsafe.

During the viewing, two school staff members will be present to address concerns, ensure that students can ask questions, and connect students with resources if needed.

The videos for middle school students can be found here.

If you do NOT wish for your child to view the videos, please call (919) 560-3970 x70223 and speak with Mr. James Newton to opt out by August 26. Please note: If you have multiple middle school students, you must make a separate call for each school. If you do not object to your child viewing the videos, no further action is required.

Thank you for your attention to this message. If you have any additional questions, please contact your school's administrative team.

RHMS Showcase of Clubs

Mark your calendars! On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM in the RHMS Gym, we will host our annual Showcase of Clubs. This special event offers families the opportunity to explore the wide variety of extracurricular clubs RHMS has to offer, including academic competitions and service groups to arts, athletics, and special-interest clubs.

Each club will have a table where students and families can meet advisors, ask questions, and learn how to get involved. Whether your child is looking to try something new, develop their talents, or connect with friends who share similar interests, the Showcase is the perfect place to start.

Effective Communication

Strong and consistent communication between home and school is key to every child’s success. If you have an immediate question or concern, we encourage you to first reach out to your child’s teacher, as they are the primary point of contact and best equipped to address classroom-related matters.

If further support is needed after connecting with the teacher, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s grade-level administrator. We are confident that by following these chains of command, your concerns will be addressed and resolved. We value our partnership with you and are committed to working together to ensure the best possible experience for your child.

Thank you for making Rogers-Herr an extraordinary place to learn, work and grow! We are looking forward to seeing all of our Ram Scholars Monday morning. As always, Rams ROCK!!!
