Good evening Githens families!  Please review the following email for this week's update.

*Take Two Letter will be sent home with scholars this week. Information about the Take Two process and eligibility will be outlined in the letter.

*The Girls Soccer Championship AND the Baseball Championship games will both be held on Tuesday May 20th. Both games will be played at Carrington Middle. The soccer championship will start at 4pm and the baseball championship will start at 5pm.

***Students must be with an adult to enter the games, a clear bag policy will be enforced, and tickets can be purchased at GoFan.

*Our Fine Arts Department will host a Spring Concert at Githens on Wednesday, May 21st from 6-8pm. Please come out and support our scholars. Scholars attending the concert must be with an adult.

*Parents, as we approach the end of the school year, we ask for your continued support in helping us maintain a safe and orderly learning environment. This time of year, we traditionally see an increase in student behavior incidents. We will continue to remind students of our school expectations and hold them accountable for their actions. We kindly ask that you help reinforce these expectations at home as well. Your partnership is essential in ensuring a positive and productive end to the school year. Thank you for your support.

*For our students' safety, we wanted to make you aware that Githens Middle School is currently under a fire watch until repairs are completed on the fire alarm system. A fire watch is being conducted to ensure the safety of students and staff while the building is occupied. Fire Watch personnel are trained to alert building staff and call 911 in the event of an emergency. The safety of all DPS students is always a top priority and we will continue to take the necessary steps as directed by the Durham County Fire Marshal.

*As always our goal at Githens is to keep a strong connection between home and school. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.  Raiders, let’s have a fantastic week!
