Greetings, Cougar Families!
This is Principal Cheek with your weekly message. First, we are off to an amazing start with our spring fundraiser! It continues through this week, and our actual Color Games - where our students will enjoy the color packets - will be this Friday, March 14. It's not too late to donate!
Carrington’s 7th & 8th Grade chorus classes are collecting canned goods and toiletry items for two assisting living facilities here in Durham. Collections will continue until March 25th. Please send all donations to Ms. Jones (Chorus room M-6).
SwaGRRR Day is our Spring Event to celebrate our students’ positive behavior and attendance. This year’s event will be held Friday, May 16th hon Carrington Middle School’s Campus. In order for students to be eligible to attend, they must not have any Out of School Suspensions; no Full Days of RPC; and less than 10 days of Unexcused Absences starting Tuesday, March 11th. The cost to attend is $10. Payments can be made online starting March 24th.
This week we will celebrate our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Spirit Week. Tuesday will be "color" day for Self-Awareness. Encourage your child to wear their brightest & most colorful clothes. Wednesday will be Pajama Day for Self-Management. Thursday will be Culture Day for Social Awareness, and Friday will be Twin Day for Relationship Skills. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a SEL Social Media challenge for a chance to win a Carrington Gift Basket. We look forward to helping our students learn more of these valuable social emotional life skills.
Please support our spring Band Fundraiser @ Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers (3812 N. Roxboro Rd.) on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th from 4-8pm. Show the flyer located on our school’s website & social media at checkout or just mention “I’m here for the CMS Band fundraiser”. 20% of the proceeds will be donated to the band program and will be used to purchase needed materials, supplies, and instruments. For any questions please contact Mr. Halliday (jordan_halliday@dpsnc.net).
In sports news, the spring sports parent meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 11 at 5:30 pm in the cafeteria. At least one parent must attend.
Let's make it a great week in Cougar Country...intentionally!
