Welcome to the Eastway Elementary Library!
Building bright futures, one book at a time
Q & A
How many books can students check out at a time?
Students in grades K-2 may check out one book at a time. Students in grades 3-5 may check out two books at a time. Please remind your student to bring their books back on the day that they have their Media special. Students with overdue books are not allowed to check out new books.
When is open circulation?
Open circulation is when any student is allowed to return books and check out new books. Open circulation is M-F from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Students will need a pass from their teacher to visit the library during open circulation.
What if my child has lost or damaged a book?
While we hope our students will take good care of their library books and bring them back promptly, sometimes accidents happen. If your student has lost a book or a book they checked out was damaged while in their care, there are several options to restore their account so they can continue to check out books. We do ask that you help your student look for the book and that you help them find a safe place to keep their books when they are at home.
1) Your student can donate another book in good condition to replace the one that was lost. Hardback books hold up best if that is possible. We can only accept books that were published since the year 2000. We're sorry, but we can not accept donations of "Book Harvest" books as replacements for lost or damaged books.
2) You can pay for the lost or damaged item. If you are unable to make a full payment, a partial payment is acceptable.
3) Donations of books by other parents and community members allow us to be able to forgive some lost/damaged book fines. As long as a student otherwise has had a good track record of taking care of their books and returning them on time, this option can be requested.
How can I donate books to the library?
We appreciate donations of new and used books in good condition! They can be left in the front office any day or brought to the library before school or on Wednesdays. Books that can not be added to our collection might be used in classroom libraries or given to students to take home before an intercession.
