The 2025–26 season signals a powerful resurgence for the NORTHERN WOMENS BASKETBALL program, reflecting renewed competitiveness, confidence, and momentum. It represents a clear step forward and a return to the strong standards that have defined Northern Durham basketball in the past.

The Knights have experienced impressive winning eras, particularly throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s, when the program established itself as a consistent and respected competitor. That tradition of excellence continues to influence the culture today. Coach Douglas Wyatt who was a part of that era retired and came back for one single purpose and it was to put Northern Basketball back in the running as a legitimate state contender and to show through proper coaching and guidance that these dreams could become a reality.

After just 3 years of extremely difficult rebuilding, winning very few games, the program has recovered with an impressive 18-8 record as a North Carolina State Contender in the 4th round of the ELITE 8 in North Carolina.
