Join us to celebrate the end of the school year on Friday, June 6th, 5-7:30pm for the annual EOY Party, sponsored by the Morehead PTA! Because families were so generous in their giving to the Morehead PTA, the PTA is able to throw an even bigger party for everyone in our community! Join us for inflatables, a dunk tank, free pizza/fruit/snacks, a Morehead Hip Hop performance, and one last opportunity to celebrate our Meerkats schoolwide!

Morehead Montessori Magnet Elementary School is an extraordinary school. As a public Montessori magnet, the school follows the Montessori tenets of education. Students come from a diverse array of backgrounds. Every day when children come to school, teachers individualize the curriculum for each child, giving them work that is at his or her own level. The goal is to respect the children's instincts and to support the development of a love of learning.
Students from Duke's Center for Documentary Studies spent the fall semester documenting the life of Morehead. The school welcomed the Duke students who are in a class called Digital Documentary Photography: Education, Childhood and Growth. Each Duke student spent the whole semester photographing his or her project, and most of them had never used a camera before this semester!
Service learning at Duke provided a grant to produce this website. The website as well as all prints from a final exhibit were given to the school in gratitude for their support this semester and the hard work they put in every day to educate the children of Durham.
