Lucas Middle School -

A Unique Blend of Montessori & Agriculture:

In partnership with DPS Career and Technical Education, Lucas offers an agriculture-based curriculum that connects students with the natural world. From exploring plant and animal science to managing agricultural production, learning happens through experience and discovery.

Innovative Discovery Courses:

Students engage in a rich variety of electives, including Visual Arts, Band, Chorus, Spanish, Health and PE, Career Exploration Labs, and more. These courses spark creativity, curiosity, and real-world skills.

Advanced Learning Opportunities:

Lucas students can earn high school credits in Math 1, Math 2, English 1, and Spanish 1- ensuring they are challenged and prepared for future success.

Beyond the Classroom:

Our students grow through community service, leadership development, field studies, outdoor education, and enviornmental stewardship. These experiences build confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong sense of purpose.

Magnet Montessori Program:

Students learn in thoughtfully designed multi-age environments that encourage independence, collaboration, and meaningful self-reflection—hallmarks of authentic Montessori education. Within these diverse learning communities, students are given the time and space to develop at their own pace while learning from and alongside peers of different ages. This structure nurtures leadership, mutual respect, and a strong sense of responsibility, empowering students to take ownership of their learning and grow both academically and socially.

AIG Program:

Designed to challenge and inspire gifted learners, the AIG program emphasizes deep inquiry, creativity, and advanced problem-solving through personalized learning pathways. Students are encouraged to explore complex ideas, pursue individual interests, and engage in higher-level thinking that extends beyond traditional curriculum expectations. Through guided mentorship and enriched learning experiences, the program nurtures intellectual curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Media Assistant Program:

Select students gain valuable, hands-on experience supporting the Media Center, where they develop a strong sense of responsibility while assisting with daily operations and resources. Through this role, students strengthen communication and time-management skills, learn to work independently and as part of a team, and contribute meaningfully to the organization and efficiency of the learning environment. This experience fosters leadership, accountability, and confidence that support success both in and beyond the classroom.

Student Ambassador Program:

The Lucas Montessori Student Ambassador Program empowers students to take an active leadership role within the school community. Student ambassadors serve as representatives of Lucas Montessori by organizing and leading service initiatives such as supply drives that support both the school and the broader community. They welcome and guide visiting students from feeder elementary schools, helping them feel comfortable and excited about their transition to Lucas Montessori.

Ambassadors also lead parent tours, sharing firsthand perspectives on academics, culture, and student life, while highlighting the values and opportunities that make Lucas Montessori unique. In addition, student ambassadors write and deliver daily school announcements, developing strong communication skills and ensuring important information is shared clearly and responsibly. Through leadership, service, and communication, the Student Ambassador Program fosters confidence, responsibility, and a strong sense of community among participants.
