Greetings Viking Family,
We are absolutely breezing through this first quarter, and our students are on fire with their effort, growth, and determination. Every day, we see them working hard and they are making us proud.
Parents, thank you for being such an essential part of our team. Your support, encouragement, and partnership make all the difference. Together, we’re creating a school year full of wins for every child!
Almost all of our scholars have completed the beginning of the year universal screeners for both reading and math. We hope to wrap up screening administration by Tuesday. All students will receive personalized instruction based on screening data. District-wide academic screening windows take place at the beginning, middle and end of each school year.
Students will also take the SEL or Social-emotional learning screener over the next couple of weeks. This district-wide screener takes place twice a year.
Progress Reports and Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Progress Reports were sent home last week. Review the progress report with your child discussing strengths and any needed areas of focus. Create a plan with the teacher to complete and submit any missing assignments.
If a parent conference is wanted with an individual teacher or with the entire team, please email or call the appropriate staff member or grade level administrator (and/or counselor).

Student Attendance
I want to take a moment to emphasize how crucial it is for your child to be present and on time at school each and every day. Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in a student’s academic success and overall development.
When students are present and on time every day, they:
Stay up to date with classroom learning
Build strong connections with teachers and classmates
Develop positive habits that lead to lifelong success
Missing too much school—whether due to absences or frequent tardiness—can lead to:
Falling behind academically
Increased stress from trying to catch up
Lower grades and reduced confidence
Negative effects on friendships and social skils
Higher risk of retention and/or dropping out later in school
We understand that illness and emergencies happen, and we encourage you to keep your child home when they are truly unwell. However, we ask for your partnership in making school attendance a top priority whenever possible.
If your family is facing challenges that impact your child’s ability to attend school regularly or arrive on time, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school staff. We are here to support you and work together on solutions. Thank you for your continued support in ensuring every student has the opportunity to learn and thrive.
