The first grade team has over 46 years of combined experience. Teachers have worked within K-3 classrooms, AU special programs, EC Resource, behavior support, and in associations like Student U.

With a diverse set of teachers, similar to Glenn's student population, first grade works hard to ensure students’ identities and backgrounds are a source of pride in their classrooms and a motivation to succeed.

Glenn's first grade team includes three bilingual teachers, teachers with multiple certifications including English as a Second Language and Exceptional Children, multiple teachers with Master's Degrees and National Board Certification, and more. Ms. Stewart was recognized as a DPS EC Teacher of the Month, Ms. Fugon was honored as a WRAL Teacher of the Week and winner of the Bull City Best of the Best award, Ms. Herrera was Glenn's Beginning Teacher of the Year in 22-23, and both Ms. O'Neil-Dunne and Ms. Herrera were recognized as DPS Teachers of the Month.
