In the morning, cars may line up at the cones at the car rider loop on Edith Street and wait for the line to open at 7:30.
The line moves very quickly; there is no need to arrive before 7:30.
Please have your students ready to exit the car before they enter the line- jackets on, lunchboxes and water bottles in hand, backpacks on and zipped. If your child is not ready to exit the car, we will ask you to pull up into the holding zone.
When exiting the line, turn right onto Edith St.
Do not block the entrance to the staff parking lot.
Do not park your car on Edith Street and walk your student across the street. Staff are available to assist getting students and supplies to classrooms as needed.

Dismissal
Please communicate transportation changes to the office or your child’s teacher BEFORE 12:00. This includes going home with friends. If you do not communicate a transportation change, your child will be sent home in their regular manner.
Please make sure that other people picking up your student are on their approved pickup list and they know your child’s dismissal number.
Afterschool Care 🎨🎒
Students in after school may not be picked up between 2:15-2:30.
After 2:30, students can be picked up at the cafeteria door. Please see program information for more guidance.
Walkers/Bikers 🚶🏽🚴🏼♀️
Your child will be issued a dismissal number. Show the number to the staff at the cafeteria door. Your child’s number will be entered into our dismissal system so they will be called to meet you.
Once you have given your number to staff, please step to the side to wait for your child.
Do not pull into the staff parking lot to pick up your student.
If you and your child are going to socialize after school on campus, please be respectful of the grounds, school property, and the after school programs that use outdoor spaces.
Please cross at crosswalks as you leave campus.
Students may be released independently to walk or bike if they have a copy of the self release permission slip on file.
The walker door closes at 2:30. Students will move to the office and an adult will need to go to the main office through the front doors on 9th Street to pick them up.

Car Riders 🚗
Car line starts on Edith Street at the cones. Drivers approaching the car rider line should make a right-turn from Green Street onto Edith Street.
Your child will have a dismissal number. Please show this number to the staff in line.
At 2:15 the line will open. Please wait for a staff member to direct you to enter the line. Cars will enter and exit in groups of six.
Students will be waiting for you on a colored line.
Staff will assist students into their car if they need help. Please do not exit your vehicle.
Please take a picture of your number and keep it on your phone to share with other people picking up your child or to use if you lose the card.
If you do not know your child’s number, you may be asked to present ID to verify you are on the pickup list.
If you skip the line and miss the staff member taking numbers, your student will not be waiting for you when you reach the pickup zone. This will result in you having to wait longer.
The car line closes at 2:30. Students will move to the office and an adult will need to go to the main office through the front doors on 9th Street to pick them up.
Late Arrival/Early Dismissal
Early dismissal or late arrival will prevent students from receiving the full benefits of learning, therefore, we ask parents/caregivers/students to schedule appointments after school hours or during breaks. Please do not pick your child up prior to dismissal time unless necessary. If early pickup cannot be avoided, please send a note to the front office receptionist, data manager, and teacher to let them know about the expected interruption in their plans for the day. Students will not be called for early dismissal after 1:30 PM. Please note that Durham Public Schools has a tardy policy to address frequent tardiness.
