Durham Public Schools welcomes Mclloyd T. Bynum to the role of Executive Director of Safety and Security, effective April 13. Mr. Bynum brings more than 20 years of public safety experience in law enforcement, including investigative, supervisory, and interagency coordination. He also has proven expertise in emergency response and crisis management.
Mr. Bynum was most recently a detective in the special victims unit with the Durham County Sheriff's Office. He has also served as a police officer and Corporal with the Durham Police Department, and a detective with the City of Henderson Police Department.
Mr. Bynum graduated from Franklin University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and is currently pursuing a master’s in public administration in Human Resources from Franklin.
