S.P.A.R.K. Academy: Supporting Parents and Advocates through Resources and Knowledge
For the learners behind every learner.
Are you ready to learn more about Durham Public Schools and how you can make a difference in your community?
S.P.A.R.K. Academy is a new community certification program designed to empower parents, caregivers, and advocates with the knowledge and tools to better support Durham students.
Through this interactive learning experience, participants will explore how DPS operates โ from classrooms to central administrative offices โ and discover how families and community members can partner with schools to help every student thrive.
S.P.A.R.K. Academy will illuminate the systems, resources, and people who make Durham Public Schools work and, in the process, ignite your own leadership journey.
What to Expect
Participants will:
Learn how DPS departments and schools collaborate to support student success.
Gain valuable insights into district priorities, programs, and decision-making.
Build relationships with other engaged community members and DPS leaders.
Reflect on your own role as a parent, advocate, or community leader.
Each session of the S.P.A.R.K. Academy will include a combination of presentations from DPS leaders and hands-on activities to learn more about programs or district operations.
