Aiden Brown Student of the Month

Aidan Brown is a self-proclaimed lifelong learner who plans to build on the academic and fine arts preparation he’s receiving at the School for Creative Studies. After graduation, he hopes to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a career in acting, film, or music.

“The arts are a good career base for me,” Aidan said. “I’ve always been inclined toward acting and performing arts.”

A member of the National Honor Society, Aidan is exploring colleges that emphasize creativity and freedom in the arts, including UNC School of the Arts, UNC Greensboro, N.C. Central University, UNC Chapel Hill, and Duke. He credits his mother and aunt for inspiring his creative journey by “always striving to relay good experiences and support my endeavors.”

At the School for Creative Studies, Aidan has strengthened his self-discipline and determination. “My motivations stem from the idea of success,” he said. “Theatre productions, trips to New York, Washington, and Florida, and meeting knowledgeable people keep me inspired to discover more.”

Curiosity drives him both inside and outside the classroom. His interests range from history, anime, and cooking to video games, geography, music, and film. He also enjoys basketball, soccer, dance, and martial arts. Aidan is active in the International Thespian Society, Young Male Achievers, and Habitat for Humanity.

Though he navigates the challenges of ADHD, Aidan sees it as a source of strength. “The positive side is being able to hyper-fixate and become engrossed in what I love,” he said. “One of my biggest accomplishments has been finding passion and creativity while surrounded by people who encourage me.”

His teachers and mentors agree that Aidan exemplifies the mission of the School for Creative Studies. Theatre teacher Tiffany Waters praised him for “consistently demonstrating excellence, empathy, and leadership” and embodying the school’s 4 Cs: Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Community. Coach LeVon Barnes, his Young Male Achievers mentor, called him “the definition of a lifelong learner” and a leader who uplifts those around him.

“Aidan doesn’t seek recognition – but he certainly deserves it,” Waters said. “He is not only going places, but he’s also bringing others with him.”
