Principal, Hope Valley Elementary

Ingrid Whitaker has been named principal at Hope Valley Elementary School, effective July 1, 2025. She succeeds Jed Miller who will depart at the end of the school year.

Whitaker has served Hope Valley since 2020 as its assistant principal. She is a  graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where she earned her Bachelor's of Arts in English, and is a double graduate from North Carolina Central University, earning a Master of Curriculum and Instruction, and a Master of School Administration. 

Whitaker has a passion for strengthening academic excellence, promoting equity, and building collaborative relationships with staff, families, and community members. Her leadership has been described as transformative, and she prides herself on serving the entire school community. 

“I am incredibly excited to step into the role of principal at Hope Valley. Becoming a principal is an opportunity to make a broader, lasting impact on student outcomes and teacher development. The path for Hope Valley’s improvement will continue by upholding strong leadership values that will permeate our decision-making, and remain true to the school’s vision, mission and core values. One Valley, One Voice, One Hope,” said Whitaker.
