The Hank & Billye Suber Aaron Young Scholars Summer Research Institute
is a free intensive, hands-on research program designed to provide high school students with the opportunity to engage in meaningful academic exploration and gain valuable research experience while learning about social equity. Since 2015, students have been able to work closely with faculty mentors, participate in cutting-edge social equity research projects, and develop important skills that prepared them for future academic and professional pursuits. The program will run from July 8th, 2025 to July 25th, 2025. And our research capstone will be held on July 28th, 2025. The program will be located at Duke University, breakfast and lunch will be provided while on site, and transportation will be provided on a case-by-case basis. Any materials students may need for the program will be provided. This program is open to all current eighth, ninth, tenth, or eleventh graders currently enrolled in Durham Public Schools who are interested in building their research or writing skills and would like the opportunity to conduct research. Applications are now live on our website, but I will include the link here for you to share to any students you think would be interested. The deadline for all applicants is March 31st, 2025. Included in our application is a section on basic student information and three short answer questions. To learn more about the program, please visit our website. If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at kennedy.ruff@duke.edu.
