Welcome to Parkwood Elementary!

I am truly honored to serve as the principal of Parkwood Elementary School for the 2025–2026 academic year. With over 24 years of experience in education, I have had the privilege of working in various roles—including classroom teacher, testing coordinator, beginning teacher support coordinator, director, assistant principal, and principal. Each role has shaped my passion for student success and my commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.

I am originally from Williamston, North Carolina, located in Martin County. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Business and Marketing Education from North Carolina State University as a proud NC Teaching Fellow (Class of 2001). I later pursued my Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Wheeling Jesuit University and completed my Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership at Gardner-Webb University.

Outside of school, I am a proud mother of three amazing children: Christina, a talented graphic designer; Pryce, a college student; and Terry Jr., a high school senior. In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, reading, singing, watching documentaries, listening to music, and seeking out new experiences.

I am excited about the year ahead and the opportunities it brings for our scholars, families, and community. As we begin this new chapter together, I encourage all of our Parkwood Panthers to lead with purpose and always show our PRIDE!

Mrs. Kristie Daye-Herring is a dedicated and passionate educator with 26 years of experience in the field of education. Originally from Durham, North Carolina, she now resides in Creedmoor, where she continues to serve her community with a heart for students, families, and lifelong learning.

Kristie holds a Bachelor's degree in Child Development and Family Relations, as well as a degree in Elementary Education. She furthered her expertise by earning a Master of School Administration from North Carolina Central University, which prepared her for leadership at the school and district levels. Throughout her 26-year career, Kristie has remained focused on fostering student growth, supporting teacher development, and creating inclusive, supportive school environments. Transitioning from the classroom into administration—and stepping into the role of principal intern—has been one of the most rewarding chapters of her career, allowing her to broaden her impact and grow as an instructional leader.

Rooted in her faith, Kristie finds strength and joy in her family, church, and the quiet moments of rest that help her recharge and reflect. She believes that a strong sense of balance and community connection is essential to leading with compassion and clarity.
