Kayla Scales McCoy was presented with a $10,000 scholarship at the event
Today marked the exciting culmination of the third annual sports banquet, celebrating the hard work, dedication, and achievements of our student-athletes. This year’s event was a resounding success, bringing together the school community to honor the spirit of competition and sportsmanship that defined the 2025 March Madness tournament.

The tournament ended on a high note, with Mr. Murray’s team, St. Aug, earning the regular season crown. Meanwhile, Ms. Graves' team, Virginia St., clinched victory in the tournament, showcasing skill, determination, and exceptional teamwork. The students’ effort and enthusiasm were evident throughout the competition, reflecting their commitment to both athletic excellence and fair play.

Since its inception three years ago, the tournament has continued to grow and improve, becoming a much-anticipated highlight of the school’s sports calendar. This year’s event was no exception, drawing praise from attendees for its organization and the positive atmosphere it fostered.

Special recognition goes to Mrs. Serena Tedder for her outstanding efforts in organizing the banquet. Her dedication and attention to detail ensured that the event ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all. Additionally, a heartfelt shout-out goes to the coaching staff—Coach Smith, Coach Williams, Mr. Long, Mr. Freeman, and Mr. Johnson—whose guidance and support played a pivotal role in the students’ development both on and off the court.

The event would not have been complete without the hard work of our dedicated referees—Al Hughes, Ms. Hampton, and Sean Marshall—who ensured fair play and upheld the standards of the competition.

The third annual sports banquet not only celebrated athletic success but also reinforced the values of perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We look forward to seeing how next year’s tournament builds on this legacy, and we are immensely proud of our student-athletes and their achievements.
