Her years at Durham School of the Arts offered Shannon Wylie the opportunity to be involved in a school where, “everyone in the community has a passion, and the process of watching my peers grow and advance in their arts pathways has been the best memory overall!”
Shannon is a member of both the National Honor Society and the International Thespian Society. Never be afraid to ask for help, as it doesn’t make one less smart or important, Shannon shares as her advice to younger DPS students. And keep trying, no matter what.
“What motivates me to succeed is knowing that there is so much more out there that I haven't experienced yet, and even if I don't succeed, I know that I tried,” said Shannon. “Trying is always better than not trying.”
Shannon plans to attend the Honors College at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, majoring in communications and minoring in business.
