Born and raised in Nigeria, Sa’adatu Suleiman came to the United States at the age of 9 years old. “No I am not lucky, I am blessed,” said Sa’adatu of the great experiences she has had after coming to the U.S. and attending school in Durham.
One of Sa’adatu’s favorite memories in high school was during her freshman year, when she had a rather enthusiastic teacher. “Mr. McCann ran to the board to show us the idea of reflection,” said Sa’adatu. She hopes to be equally enthusiastic as she pursues higher education at Eastern Connecticut State University, and she looks forward to a bright future. In fact the thought of her “future self and my family” is what motivates her to pursue success.
Sa’adatu’s advice to younger DPS students? “Enjoy your time because when (graduation) gets closer you will feel like you have no more time. So enjoy it!”
