Partnership with CTE

Why Partnerships Matter

Businesses, nonprofits, government agencies and educational institutions across the region provide vital programmatic and financial support for CTE programs and activities. They connect learning and work for students in ways that promote academic and career success. They help create a strong, sustainable pipeline of talent for our employers, enabling them to compete globally and grow our economy.

Below are some ways you can become a CTE partner.

Expose Students to Careers

Durham Public Schools Career and Technical Education (CTE) is dedicated to providing students with meaningful opportunities that support their exploration of future career pathways. We invite industry partners to participate in our work-based learning initiatives by hosting students for experiences such as job shadowing, internships, and apprenticeships. Additional opportunities for engagement include participating in career fairs and hosting student groups for educational field trips.

Sponsor A Student Organization

Career and technical student organizations support academics, career-readiness and leadership development through competitions, service activities and career-relevant projects. Students develop character and citizenship, and gain technical, professional and teamwork skills while learning about industries and sectors that interest them.

Invest in CTE

CTE serves nearly 15,000 middle and high school students each year with career-focused education and work-based learning that empowers students to be successful citizens, workers and leaders in a global economy.

By sponsoring CTE, your company will help fund critical programming not covered by government funding, including work-based learning, career readiness training events, and career and technical student organizations.

Spread the Word

  • CTE works!

    • More than 93 percent of CTE students graduate.

    • More than three out of four pursue further education.

    • Others gain valuable credentials that help them enter careers directly out of high school.

Help us spread the word that today's CTE is leading educational innovation, helping students develop the academic, technical and professional skills they need to compete in our technology-based, globally connected world.

By working together, we can ensure that every Durham student succeeds in school and career and that our companies get the talent they need to compete and thrive.
