DPS Growing Together Community Discussion
As your principal, I am eager to hear from you as Durham Public Schools rolls out the second phase of our Growing Together academic programs and student assignment plan for the 2024-2025 school year. Please join us for a community meeting on Thursday, April 27th at 6:00 pm to share details and have a discussion about the benefits of this initiative for your child. Hopefully, you have completed the survey sent to your households recently. Your thoughts are necessary and important as we plan for your student’s academic success.

Growing Together is being designed in two phases to ensure diversity and equitable access to academic programs for all Durham Public Schools students. Phase One of the initiative began with elementary school boundary adjustments and academic program enhancements approved by the DPS Board of Education in January. Phase two will focus on middle and high school boundaries and programs.

NJHS Induction Ceremony
We will have our 2023 National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony on Monday, April 3rd at 6:30 pm.

Upcoming 4-Day Week
This week will be a four-day week for students and staff. There will be no school Friday in observance of Good Friday. Also, looking ahead, there will be no school on the following Monday, April 10th, because of a teacher workday.

Yearbook

BMS Community Day
We will be hosting Community Day at BMS on Saturday, April 22nd from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. The flyer for this event can be found on the BMS website and is also linked HERE. We hope to see everyone there!

8th Grade Promotion Ceremony
Attention 8th grade families. The date for our 8th grade promotion ceremony is Thursday, June 8th. There will be two ceremonies (9:30 am & 12:00 pm). Your student’s homeroom class will determine the ceremony that they will attend. Each student will receive two tickets for guests to attend. Please be on the lookout for more information in the coming weeks.
