Principal's Weekly Spotlight - 2/17/2019

Good evening! This is Dr. Moore-Lawrence, proud principal of Bethesda Elementary School, with the Principal’s Weekly Spotlight. Please listen to the following reminders about important things happening at Bethesda the week of February 18th.

Bethesda’s Career Day is scheduled for April 26th. Those interested in presenting to students during Career Day should sign up on the website. You can also recommend someone to present.

This month is Black History Month. We would like to invite our families to attend our February 28th Black History Program spotlighting the talents of our students and staff as they promote the rich history of black people around the world. 

Monday, February 18th

  • Although it is Presidents Day, we do have school tomorrow
  • Truancy Court (Coordinated by Attendance Team)
  • 3rd-5th Bulldog Academy Afterschool Tutoring (2:30-5:30)
  • Battle of the Books (Afterschool; Media Center; Coordinated by Kinsey)
  • NEHS Meeting (Afterschool; Media Center; Coordinated by Morman and Collins)

Tuesday, February 19th

  • Morning Media Check Out—Please encourage your child to visit the library to check out books.
  • 3rd-5th Bulldog Academy Afterschool Tutoring (2:30-5:30)
  • Bethesda Choir Meeting (Afterschool; Coordinated by Bridgers)
  • Science Olympiad (Afterschool; Coordinated by Sheehan)
  • Title I District PAC Night Event (6:00; Durham Armory)

Wednesday, February 20th

  • Happy Red for Ed Day—Students and staff are encouraged to wear red to show their support for public education
  • School Improvement Team Meeting (2:45)

Thursday, February 21st   

  • Morning Media Check Out—Please encourage your child to visit the library to check out books.
  • Daughters and Sisters of Triumph (Afterschool; A1)
  • Art Club (Afterschool; Art Room; Coordinated by Culberson)
  • Communities in School hosts its weekly Incredible Years Program at Bethesda. The program starts at 5:30 with dinner. Free childcare and prizes provided. 

Friday, February 22nd

  • Show Your Bulldog Pride by wearing your Leadership t-shirt, sweatshirt, or blue and white
  • Kick Off for Cookie Dough Fundraiser Assembly; students will bring home the packet. Thank you in advance for helping us to raise money for student, staff, and family programming.

Saturday, February 23rd

  • Say Yes to DPS Event (10:00; Hillside High School); event brings families together with principals and district leaders to learn more about the opportunities and services unique to DPS; starts at 10:00 and ends at 1:00; location Hillside High School; food trucks and entertainment will be featured as well
