Principal's Weekly Spotlight - 9/16/2018

Good evening! This is Dr. Moore-Lawrence, proud principal of Bethesda Elementary School, with the Principal’s Weekly Spotlight. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.  We hope that your family remained safe during Hurricane Florence.  If you are in need of any assistance, please contact Mrs. Wamugi, our School Social Worker.  Please listen to the following reminders about important things happening at Bethesda the week of September 17th.

This week is Constitution Week. During this week, students will learn about how the Constitution was created and why it is important.

Wednesday, September 19th 

  • Happy Red for Ed Day—Students and staff are encouraged to wear red to show their support for public education
  • Wednesday Early Release cancelled.  School will dismiss at regular time (2:15)

Thursday, September 20th

  • Daughters and Sisters of Triumph Mentoring Program meets at 2:30 in the Media Center.

Friday, September 21st

  • Students and staff are encouraged to show their Bulldog pride by wearing their Bethesda t-shirt or blue and white. It’s not too late to buy your child a tshirt for $10. These t-shirts will be worn on Friday and on field trip days.
  • Ident A Kid IDs will be made this day.  If you would like to order one for your child, please complete the order form and include the money. There is not a makeup day.

Week of September 24th—Bring Your Parent to PE Week; a flyer is coming home with more information

Wednesday, September 26th—Bethesda’s Big Dig from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Please come help us plant our new school garden. Dress in comfortable clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. If you have any of the following tools, please bring them labeled with your name--wheelbarrow, power drill, extension cord, saw, shovel, heavy duty staple gun, and measuring tape.

Saturday, September 29th--Bethesda’s Moving On Up Block Party Celebration from 11:00-2:00. We are excited and proud about our letter grade moving to a C and our students exceeding expected growth last year.  This celebration will feature a cookout, video game truck, bounce houses, face painting, balloon art, hamster ball, first PTA meeting, and more.  Everything is free!!!  Invite your family and friends. Come early so you don’t miss out on any of the goodies.
