Principal's Weekly Spotlight - 9/2/2018

Good evening! This is Dr. Moore-Lawrence, proud principal of Bethesda Elementary School, with the Principal’s Weekly Spotlight. Hope you and your family are enjoying this long weekend.  Last week was a great first week. Please listen to the following reminders about important things happening at Bethesda the week of September 3rd.

Monday, September 3rd

  • Labor Day—NO SCHOOL

Wednesday, September 5th

  • Happy Red for Ed Day—Students and staff are encouraged to wear red to show their support for public education.

Friday, September 7th

  • Students and staff are encouraged to show their Bulldog pride by wearing their Bethesda t-shirt or blue and white. It’s not too late to buy your child a tshirt for $10. These t-shirts will be worn on Friday and on field trip days.

After a few days in school, we are confident that our students are able to independently walk to class when they enter the building in the morning. If you bring your child to school, please help us increase your child’s independence by giving your child a hug and/or kiss and letting them enter the building so they can walk to class solo.  If you would like to meet with your child’s teacher, you can contact the teacher or principal via email to schedule a conference for afterschool. Instructional time is sacred so all meetings need to be held outside of instructional hours.

Recently, a letter went out about the new procedures to enter our school.  Please be reminded that all parents and visitors must sign in on the computer inside the office to obtain a visitor pass. You need to scan your North Carolina ID. However, if you have a passport or another form of picture ID, please alert the staff member at the front desk so she can help you obtain a visitor’s pass with the form of picture ID you have.  If you have questions, please contact the principal at

At Bethesda, we are proud to say, ” Greatness Starts Here:  Leaders Are Made at Bethesda.” Thank you for listening to this message.  Have a great evening!
