Good evening! This is Dr. Moore-Lawrence, proud Principal of Bethesda Elementary School, with the Principal’s Weekly Spotlight for the week of September 6th. Thank you for listening to my weekly messages as they provide important updates for families. They can also be found in your email inbox and on our website. Please make sure you have joined your child’s teacher’s Class Dojo. That’s where you get updates about what is happening in the class, at the school, in the district, and more. It is also where you will find out if a bus is running late, if school is delayed, and other emergency information.

We are making every effort to expedite the Bulldog carpool process, but we need your help. When picking your students up, please select the lane based on your child's grade level. The lane closest to the sidewalk is for Kindergarteners and 1st graders. The middle lane is for 2nd and 3rd graders, and the last lane is for 4th and 5th grade students. Families with children in multiple grades may select one grade level lane to pick up all students. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and assistance with this.

Did you know that DPS was the first district in NC to offer parents the option to track their child's bus in real-time? All you need is an account with our "Here Comes the Bus" application online, and you can track the bus using your computer, smartphone or tablet. Using GPS, this app lets you see where the bus is and confirms when the bus has arrived at the bus stop and at the school. Plus, you can sign up to receive a text message or email when the bus is within a certain radius of the bus stop. To download the app, visit Click the Sign-Up Today button, enter school code 97034, and follow the steps. If you need help, please contact your child’s teacher or the main office.

Here are a few COVID reminders:

If your child is experiencing a headache, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, fever or chills, body aches, sore throat, cough, runny nose, sneezing, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, runny nose or congestion, or other like symptoms, your child should not come to school. If they are experiencing these symptoms, they must quarantine for ten days, have a negative COVID test, or get a note from the doctor indicating that it is not COVID related. Before your child comes to school, be sure to check his/her temperature and make sure he/she has a mask that properly fits. If you want to get your child an official Bethesda Bulldog student mask, we are selling them for $10. If you have questions, please contact me.

Thank you for listening to this message. Remember it is in your email and on our website. Have a great evening!
