PRINCIPAL'S WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT WEEK OF MARCH 21st

Good evening!  This is Principal Moore-Lawrence, proud principal of Bethesda Elementary with the Principal's Weekly Spotlight for the Week of March 21st. We have made it through the first week of face-to-face instruction and if I do say so myself, WE ROCKED IT!  Bethesda once again did we do best…Worked together, exercised grace and patience, and got the job done.  The quote of the week is “Just keep moving forward, one day at a time. The view from the top is SO worth the climb.”  If there is anything you need, please do not hesitate to email me at shaneeka_lawrence@dpsnc.net, text or call me at 919-491-3630, or contact your child’s teacher.  Thank you for everything!  This is our last week before Spring Break and I know it will be TERRIFIC!

This Week’s Bulldog Share and Care

Kindergarten—Join kindergarten for a spring activity share and drawing.

First—Join first grade as they learn about National Puppy Day.

Second— Join second grade as they get active with a Spring Version of Would You Rather.

Third— Join third grade as they draw an ice cream surprise.

Fourth—Join fourth grade as they draw a mystery picture.

Fifth—Join fifth grade as they play Simon Says with a Twist.

This is a reminder that every day, every bus rider and car rider must have the DPS Symptoms Screener completed before they come to school. If we have a valid email on file for you, you will receive an email with your personal link. You can also log in with your child’s PowerSchool Student ID number on your school website. That is also the number that your child uses for Canvas.  If you cannot locate your Student ID, please contact your child’s teacher.  The screener link can be found on both the Bethesda and DPS website.

If your child has any of these symptoms, please keep your child at home-- cough, sneeze, headache, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting,  etc.

If your child is a bus rider you only have to fill out the bus attestation form once.  A copy of the form can be found on the Bethesda and DPS websites. There are also some copies at school’s front door. Feel free to come by to grab one.

If your child is face-to-face, it is important that your child bring his/her charged computer and charger every day. Also, please send in your child’s school supplies.  Students are unable to share supplies so it is important that your child has his/her own. If you need assistance with school supplies or other items, please contact our School Social Worker Ms. Wamugi.

We welcome donations of hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, Kleenex, masks, erasers, pencils, and crayons.

Each Wednesday, we will no longer have morning meeting.  Instead, students are to complete one of four Wellness Wednesday activities. These will be shared by your child’s teacher and is the way that your child will be marked for attendance. If your child does not complete one of the activities, he/she will be marked absent. One of the activities is attending our Wellness Wednesday program with our Student Support Services Team.

Quarter Three ends Friday, March 26th.

Bethesda is closed for Spring Break Monday, March 29th-Friday, April 2nd.

ACCESS testing will occur this week for all ESL students who are face-to-face and virtual. If you have questions, please ask your child’s teacher or ESL teacher.

This week, we’d like to shoutout the following Bulldogs:

  • Our awesome staff, students, families, and community partners who have continuously supported each other to make this the best school year possible!

This concludes the Principal’s Weekly Spotlight. Have a great evening!
