Principal's Weekly Spotlight - 08/23/2020
Good evening! This is Dr. Moore-Lawrence, proud Principal of Bethesda Elementary. We are survivors! We made it through week one and we are destined to make it until June 4, 2021.
Here are a few reminders and updates about the upcoming week:
*Student's DPS passwords were updated on Friday, August 21st at 8:00 p.m. It is now the first initial of your child's first name with a capital letter, then the first initial of his/her last name with a lower case letter, and then the date of birth with only two digits for the month and two digits for the day. For example, the password for Sandra Jones with a birthday of June 12 would be Sj0612. Please try this tonight so you are ready for Monday.
*It's time for our Kindergarten students to meet their teachers. Meet the Teacher is Monday, August 24th at 6:00 p.m. The zoom link is https://dpsnc.zoom.us/j/95438131604. The information can also be found on our website and social media. See you then!
*Please note that our focus areas for the first two weeks of school are building positive relationships with students and providing quality instruction. We thank you for your grace, flexibility, support, and patience as we prioritize these focus areas in a virtual setting.
*Next week, all K-5 students will take the iReady Beginning of Year assessment in Reading. This will occur on Tuesday and Thursday. Thank you for allowing your child to complete the assessment without assistance. This is how we know what your child knows and where he/she needs help.
*Looking for ways to stay connected? We encourage families to regularly check for updates on Twitter, Instagram, the website, and Class Dojo. Also, feel free to reach out to your child's teacher via email or phone. Join the PTA for $6; the link is on our website. Main office staff are available Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
*Thank you to the students who attended this week's Wellness Wednesday. We hope that more join this week for activities related to health, wellness, and social-emotional learning.
*Congratulations to Nahzari B. from Ms. Smith's 3rd grade class for receiving a positive office referral. Nahzari is a respectful and engaged learner. She participates in our Zoom class and has completed her assignments. Way to go Nahzari!
As always, let's keep the main things, the main things--Attitude, Attendance, and Academics. Have a great day!
