Wendell Tabb is a native of Louisburg, North Carolina. For 35 years, he served as Drama Director and taught theatre at Hillside High School in Durham, North Carolina. He is also the President and Artistic Director of Triangle Performance Ensemble (a community-based theatre company in Durham, North Carolina). He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Education and Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from North Carolina Central University.
Through his multifaceted career, Mr. Tabb has developed a rich skill set in leadership, cultural competence, community engagement, and educational innovation. These experiences collectively prepare him to lend his voice to initiatives, fostering environments where creativity and collaboration thrive.
As a former teacher it is clear that Mr. Tabb believes in lending his skills to policies that will enhance student academic growth during these challenging times in public education.
He has a proven record that he cares for all students and the Durham community. He consistently creates environments where every voice is heard. He is dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within Durham Public Schools. Mr. Tabb is a champion for fairness in social and economic circumstances, advocating for resources benefiting marginalized and underrepresented groups by promoting equal rights in our community.
