Good afternoon, Pirate families,
This is Dr. Woods-Weeks calling with the weekly update. Congratulations to all Riverside High School, Friday night was a huge success on and off the field. We thank you for your enthusiasm and positive behavior. Let's continue to be the standard. A special shout out to the Gymnastics team. They won third place at their first meet of the season, and they represented our school well! Also, hats off to Zoe Cordell. In a historical moment for the Pirates, she kicks a 25-yard field goal to end the game. Rock on Super Star!
There is home contest every day this week. Please show up and show your Pirate Pride. Student priced tickets are available at all home contest via www.ticketspicket.com and select games will have free entry for students with a Valid Student ID. That information will be posted via social media. Remember, we are enforcing the clear bag policy at all athletic events.
Are you interested in a winter sport? There will be an interest meeting Tuesday, September 20th in the main gym at the start of SMART Lunch. Winter sports include basketball, indoor track and field, wrestling, and swimming. Come out and meet the coaches and get information about tryouts and requirements.

As a reminder, Curriculum Night will be held, Tuesday, September 13, 2022, for ALL students and parents from 6:00pm-7:30pm. Our faculty will be available to meet and greet ALL parents and students alike. We will begin in the auditorium with a presentation from our amazing PTA, you will hear a brief overview of our curriculum from counselors; and a brief 10-minute presentation from your scholars’ teachers in each classroom.
We look forward to seeing each of you. Please govern yourself according to the following schedule:
- 6:00 – 6:05 p.m. – Welcome/ PTA Presentation
- 6:05 – 6:20 p.m. - General Curriculum Information Session
- 6:25 - 6:35 p.m. - Parents and students report to 1st Period classes
- 6:45 – 6:55 p.m. – Parents and Students report to 2nd Period classes
- 7:00 – 7:10 p.m. - Parents and Students report to 3rd Period classes
- 7:20 – 7:30 p.m. - Parents and Students report to 4th Period classes
- 7:30 p.m. - Closing Remarks
Next, SMART Lunch tutoring begins Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Students, please look at your grades in PowerSchool if you have not already done so, to prepare for tomorrow.
Mark your Calendar! The School Improvement Team(SIT) will meet Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at 5:00pm. If you are a parent interested in becoming a member of the SIT, please call the front office and give your name and number to Ms. Monroe.
