Good afternoon, Pirate families,

This is Dr. Woods-Weeks calling with the weekly update.  Congratulations to the combined spring Orchestra and Band Concert for a magnificent performance this past Thursday evening. If you missed it, you missed a treat. One of our very own students, Mr. William Gavilan arranged one of the musical compositions and it was outstanding. He told me this was something he had been working on since his freshman year. You rock William, we are so proud of you!

Also, congratulations to Ms. Genesis Crawford. The School for Ethics and Global Leadership has offered her a place in the 2022 Ethics and Leadership Institute in London. Genesis was selected from a compelling pool of strong and diverse applicants. These students are selected for outstanding character, promise for leadership, and scholastic ability. Kudos to Ms. Ruby and Ms. Pulliam for the recommendation letters. Congratulations Genesis again, I know you will represent Riverside High School well….“Shine bright like a diamond!”

"This week the Riverside PTA will be recognizing the great work of teachers and staff in several departments: English, Healthy Living, ROTC, Instructional Support, and English as a Second Language.  In addition, we are recognizing the enormous contributions of the Custodial and Cafeteria Staff.  The PTA will provide small succulent plants and goodie bags for these awesome staff and teachers.  Please join us in thanking them for their wonderful service and dedication and wish them luck as they wrap up the year.

Also, all teachers and staff are invited to the final FriYay of the school year - this Friday, May 20.

As a reminder, AP make-up exams begin this week. The schedule for testing times, dates, and locations is available on the RHS AP Exam website. Govern yourselves accordingly!

Parents, we have just four weeks left before we begin final exams. Progress reports were distributed and are available in PowerSchool. Please continue to be attentive to your scholar’s progress as the academic year winds down. Continue your dialogue with your scholars about the school day. There is still time to improve and finish the year strong. Let me know how I may assist.

The Math I EOC Review session will resume tomorrow afternoon from 4:15 – 5:30. Those students selected to participate please be prompt and on time. We had 25 students last Monday. Snacks will be served.

Senior Cap and Gowns are available for pickup in the main office. Govern yourselves accordingly.
