Transportation:
• For the next three weeks beginning Monday, Dec. 2 through Friday, Dec. 20, Durham Public Schools will implement rotational bus service due to the ongoing shortage of bus drivers across the district.
• Families will be responsible for transporting their students to and from school one day each week, with bus service provided four days per week. This approach will help in managing the shortage efficiently, ensuring that our current drivers can cover more routes equitably.
• This is a temporary measure as DPS is actively working to resolve transportation issues. And while we know this will present a hardship for some families who have benefitted from daily bus service thus far this school year, we ask for your patience and for the understanding that this is a more equitable solution for all.
• This will provide four days of service for everyone, including those families who have had inconsistent service up to this point. For our school, families whose students ride these buses will be responsible for transporting your children to and from school on the indicated days:
Mondays: Buses 646 and 655
Tuesdays: Buses 624, 213, and 134
Wednesdays: Buses 24,118/612, 115, 229, and 631
Thursdays: Buses 240 and 243
Fridays: Buses 38, 656, and 623
Please visit DPSNC.net for the complete rotational bus service schedule.
DPS will excuse tardiness for students on late buses and absences for students who miss school due to canceled bus routes. We will continue to investigate the possibility of retroactively excusing absences due to canceled bus routes.
Please contact the school if you have questions or concerns.
