Good afternoon, Pirate families,

This is Dr. Woods-Weeks calling with the weekly update. Congratulations to chorus students for great performances last week. It was a spectacular event.

Hats off to Ms. Patterson and the team for a great two weeks of AP testing. Make-ups are scheduled for this week.

Congratulations to the numerous Riverside Track and Field Athletes who competed at the State Championships.

• Elizabeth Healy place 9^th in the 800m Run and 10^th in the 1600 m Run.
• Zanetta Hudson placed 11^th in the 100m Hurdles.  
• Rafaela Drake places 2^nd in the Triple Jump.
• Philip Blum placed 9^th in the 800 m run and 3^rd in the 1600m Run.
• Jaden Butler placed 7^th in the men's disc and 13^th in the shot put.
• Conner Tyrell placed 10^th in the 3200 m race.
• Jaleel Griffin placed 14^th in the 110 M hurdle race.

Congratulations to all these athletes for representing Riverside.

All, with just 9 days left before we begin final exams, it is important for students to arrive to school daily, on time, prepared to learn. We must keep a laser like focus on academics, so that all can finish the school year strong. Students will begin final exams June 3^rd - 7^th.

Seniors

Seniors, please check your email daily for important information from your counselor.

Attention parents of RISING Seniors. Save the Date! Senior portraits will take place June 11-June 12 by appointment only. These pictures will be used for ID's, the yearbook and be the only opportunity for senior portrait sessions. Sign-ups will be online through Strawbridge Studios and a link will be added to the website as soon as it is made available. Watch the website for updates.

Senior Awards Day

Senior Awards Day is Friday, May 24^th at 9:15am-12:30pm. Mark Your Calendar! Senior Fest will follow the awards day ceremony.

AVID

An AVID Interest Meeting for Rising 9th Graders (virtual and in-person) will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM. 

School Improvement Team Meeting
The School Improvement Team meets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22^hd in the media center.

Deadline to return all library books is June 3. Govern yourselves accordingly!

All student-issued technology devices (Chromebook, chargers, and hotspots) must be turned in before summer break. If you fail to return your device, it will be locked, and you will not receive a new device next school year until you return the old one. Govern yourselves accordingly!

Spring Spirit Week in Athletics is Here 

• 5/21 - Pirate Athletic Media Kickball tournament will be at 5pm at the RHS Softball Field
• 5/22 - Pirate Puff Football sponsored by Sports Medicine will start at 5pm at Linny Wrenn Stadium. 
• 5/22 - 5 vs 5 Destino Success Soccer Tournament will also take place on the same date on the Cafeteria Field.
• 5/23 Student vs Faculty Basketball game sponsored by the RHS Basketball team will take place at 5pm 
• 5/24 Football will host its Spring Game at 5:30 at Linny Wrenn Stadium

Any students interested in Pirate Puff Football should check in with Ms. Samuels during 3rd or 4th period to sign up.  The Pirate Puff game will be on 5/22 at 5 pm.  Girls Flag Football will start 5/28, students will need to have a ticket to play to try out. 

RHS Athletics Booster Club will meet via zoom, board meeting at 7:30 general meeting at 8:00pm all are welcome to join.

Riverside Athletics will host an information meeting for all incoming 9th graders on 5/28 at 6 pm in the Riverside Auditorium.

That said, parents please continue to help us enforce the DPS Code of Conduct by ensuring that your student adheres to the rules, policies and procedures set forth. Students show your school pride by wearing our school colors on Friday. I will see each of you at the River tomorrow. Go forth and make it a great evening! Roll Pirates Roll!
