Good afternoon, Pirate families,This is Dr. Woods-Weeks calling with the weekly update. Wow! It is hard to believe that summer has end! And what a busy summer it was.A heartfelt thank you to our Booster Club, parents, administrators, faculty/staff, students, and everyone who came out to make our Open House/Back to school night a spectacular event. None of this would be possible without you.We are super excited about the beginning of the new school year. The first day of school for students is Monday, August 28, 2023. School begins each day at 9:15 a.m. and ends at 4:15 p.m. Students will not be allowed to enter the building until 8:45 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be served daily. Breakfast is free for all students.On Monday, all students will report to their first period class. Schedules will be distributed by teachers in first period. To assist with identifying your first period class, student names and first period teacher names are posted in the main hallway upstairs and the main hallway downstairs.Bus routes can be accessed online by using your student ID number located on your power school schedule and last name. For bus transportation, please go to to determine your bus route, bus number, pick up, and drop off time. You will need your student ID to access the website.Riverside athletics are back in full effect. August 30th, our Soccer team will host Cary High School. On August 31st, the Field Hockey team will host Saint Mary's, and September 1st is the first home Football game, and it will be a NEON night. Please visit the athletics website for ticket information for all games and contest. Be aware DPS observes a clear bag policy for all sporting events.Important Upcoming Dates to Remember:•    School Picture Day is Friday, September 28, 2023, for undergraduates (no seniors). Dress to impress.•    Senior make-up yearbook pictures are November 16, 2023 and undergraduate make-ups are November 16, 2023 as well.•    Labor Day Holiday, Monday September 4, 2023. No SchoolWe are looking forward to a momentous year! If there is anything we can do to help your scholar, please do not hesitate to call. The unvoiced problem cannot be resolved, as the missed opportunity rarely offers itself again. We will see each of you tomorrow at the River. Please do not be late.
