Good afternoon, Pirate families,

This is Dr. Woods-Weeks calling with the weekly update. First a heartfelt thank you to Ms. Simpson, Ms. Allman, Ms Swaim, Ms. Pulliam, Ms. Webley, Ms. Anderson, Ms. Doherty, Ms. Graves, Ms. Jenkins, and the leadership team for supporting and volunteering your time on Saturday at the DPS Job Fair. Teamwork makes the dream work, and I am so thankful for your commitment to excellence and all you do to support our school!

On behalf of the Riverside PTA, congratulations to Ms. Minnick on being selected as the winner of a Riverside Pirate Hero Award! This award recognizes a Riverside teacher, coach, or other staff member who has gone above and beyond to support our community. Congratulations again!

Also, thank you to everyone who participated in the campus cleanup Saturday organized by Ms. Watson. Thank you, thank you!

The final window for ACT is April 18th-April 20th, April 25th-April 28th.  It is imperative that we administer the ACT to A MINIMUM of 95% of our 11th graders! Currently, we are at 89.54% participation rate. This is a simple request folks. Let’s get it done. We can do this!

It is time to get excited for National Decision Day on May 1, 2023! While this decision can be stressful, once you decide what you want to do after Riverside, whether you are Enrolled, Enlisted, or Employed, IT'S TIME TO CELEBRATE YOUR "E"! We are going to have a Decision Day party of our own on May 5 during 3rd and 4th block in the cafeteria! We will have representatives from colleges that are still accepting applications, so if you haven't found your "E" yet, you still can!

DPS Career & Technical Education will host its second annual Future Ready Senior Hiring Fair on Wednesday, April 19th from 10:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Minnie Forte Brown Staff Development Center.  This event is for graduating Seniors who have not committed to a post-secondary institution or the military to assist them with securing full-time employment after graduation. AP Exams are scheduled for the first two weeks of May. The schedule for testing times, dates, and locations is available on the RHS AP Exam website. Please share this widely with your students as not all students taking an exam are in an AP class this semester.

That said, parents please continue to help us enforce the DPS Code of Conduct by ensuring that your student adheres to the rules, policies and procedures set forth. Students show your school pride by wearing our school colors on Friday. I will see each of you at the River Tuesday. Go forth and make it a great evening! Roll Pirates Roll!!!
