Good afternoon RHS families,

This is Dr. Woods-Weeks calling with the weekly update. I can hardly believe that the month of January is almost over. February is upon us, and it will be a  short month. Please keep the main thing the main thing!  Stay focused on your academics.

Report cards were distributed on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. If your scholar has not shared his/her report with you, please ask them to do so at this time. If you have questions about performance, the teacher of record is your first point of contact.

The second quarter A/B Honor Roll Celebration is now Friday, February 10^th during SMART Lunch. Location TBD.

The goal for DPS is to have 100% of our students’ parents or guardians having access to a Parent Portal account. Our data manager Mr. Bryan Garcia  can create and assist with Parent Portal account creation and password reset. If you do not have access to a Parent Portal account, please contact Mr. Garcia ASAP.

DPS has partnered with Compass Education Group to offer FREE ACT practice exams and review sessions for Juniors and Seniors! The fall practice exam will be held on Saturday, Feb 4^th  from 9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. with an in-person option at the DPS Staff Development Center and an online home option. Students must register to participate in the practice exam. The virtual review session (available in English and Spanish) will be held on Tuesday, Feb 7^th  at 6:30 P.M. Digital fliers may also be accessed here. 

Additionally, the window for ACCESS testing for all EL students in DPS is now February 6th–March 3rd. All students identified as EL who are enrolled in school must take the ACCESS or Alternate ACCESS assessment. 

The next PTA meeting is Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 6:30 p.m.

February 8^th is an early release day. Mark Your calendar!

Parents, please Save the date for our Spring Open House for second semester, Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 6:00-7:30pm. Mark your Calendar!

Parents of Seniors: Do you want to purchase a senior recognition ad? Time is running out. The last date to purchase an ad is February 9, 2023, No Exceptions! Purchasing information is on the website. Do not delay buy that ad now.

Cap and Gown pictures are scheduled for Thursday, February 23, 2023. These are prepaid pictures, and a link will be provided by Prestige for scheduling. Students should bring their Cap and Gown with them.

Seniors will also participate in the senior class panoramic on Thursday, February 23, 2023. 

The first progress report for the second semester will go home February 21, 2023, please be on the lookout and mark your calendar.

Lastly, interested in Golf, Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse, Women's Soccer, Men's Tennis or Track and Field ? Springs sports officially start February 13^th All athletes must have a ticket to play to try out. Ticket-to-play dates for spring sports will be  February 1^st, February 8^th, February 13^th, and February 14^th  in the front lobby for the first 30 minutes of SMART Lunch. Contact Athletic Trainer Erin_Samuels@dpsnc.net for any physical or registration questions.
