Good afternoon RHS families,

This is Dr. Woods-Weeks calling with the weekly update. Hats off to everyone for a great start to the second semester. Let’s stay focused and intentional by keeping the main thing the main thing.

Congratulations to Mr. Flippen for being selected as the winner of a January Riverside Pirate Hero Award! This award recognizes a Riverside teacher, coach, or other staff member who has gone above and beyond to support our community. 

Reports cards will be distributed Tuesday, January 24, 2023. You may also view your scholars’ grades in Power School. If you have any questions about your scholar's performance, do not hesitate to call the teacher of record to schedule a conference.

The Winter Graduation Ceremony will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the Jordan High School theater. The REQUIRED rehearsal for students and graduation coordinators is Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. at Jordan.

If there is inclement weather and the rehearsal and ceremony must be postponed, the new rehearsal date will be Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. and the ceremony will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 6:00 p.m.

Each graduate will receive 10 tickets to invite family/friends to attend the ceremony. Guests must present a ticket to enter the ceremony.

Next, the S.I.T. will meet Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 5:00 in the Media Center. Mark your calendar!

The second quarter A/B Honor Roll Celebration will be held February 8th during SMART Lunch. Mark your Calendar and stay tuned for more information to come.

Interested in Golf, Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse, Women's Soccer, or Track and Field? Springs sports officially start February 13th All athletes must have a ticket to play to try out.   Ticket-to-play dates for spring sports will be  1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/13, and 2/14 in the front lobby for the first 30 mins of SMART Lunch. Contact Athletic Trainer Erin Samuels@dpsnc.net for any physical or registration questions.

All potential athletes must complete or renew an online registration 1 time per school year at www.dpsathletics.com/riverside

Athletes must have a sports physical on file at Riverside dated after 2/14/ 2022 to participate in any spring sports.  All physicals can be forwarded to Athletic Trainer Erin_Samuels@dpsnc.net.

This week in athletics: Thursday 1/26 your Pirates Wrestling team will travel to Chapel Hill to compete in a Tri-Meet. Pirate Basketball will host two games this week, Hillside Tuesday night 1/24 at Home, JV boys at 5:00 pm, Girls at 6:30, and Varsity Boys at 8:00 pm, and again Friday night 1/27 against Jordan,  JV boys at 5:00 pm, Girls at 6:30, and Varsity Boys at 8:00 pm. Please wish our swimming team good luck as they will participate in the DAC 7 Conference Tournament Wednesday 1/25 at TAC in Cary.

That said, parents please continue to help us enforce the DPS Code of Conduct by ensuring that your student adheres to the policies and procedures set forth.
