Good afternoon RHS families,

This is Dr. Woods-Weeks calling with the weekly update. Hats off to the Orchestra students under the tutelage of Ms. Moore for a magnificent performance on Friday evening.

Further, progress reports were distributed Friday, December 2. If your child has not shared his/her report with you, please ask him/her to do so at this time. If you have any questions or concerns about the report, the teacher of record is the first point of contact.  

“The school counseling team will be hosting a post-secondary panel on December 13 at 5:30 pm via Zoom. Panelist consists of RHS alum and will cover how they navigated life after Riverside as college students. Further details to come.”

Each year, secondary schools participating in the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System are required to provide training for all students. There is refresher training available for students returning to our school and a full training available for students who are new to our school. The window for DPS to train our students is December 5 - December 16, 2022. 

The PTA will meet Tuesday, December 6^th in the Media Center at 6:30 pm.

REPAC will meet Thursday, December 8^th in the media center at 6:00 pm.

The Dance Team will be performing on Thursday, December 8 and Friday,  9^th  at 7:00 pm in the auditorium. Please come out and support our students.

This week in athletics at Riverside, Basketball will host DSA Wednesday at home on Dec 7^th. JV Boys at 4:30 pm, Varsity Girls at 6 pm, and Varsity boys at 7:30 pm. 

Riverside Swim team is off to a solid start this winter season. The swim team will host its first home meet Wednesday December 7^th  against Jordan and Chapel Hill. The meet will start at 5:00 pm at Campus Hills swimming pool. 

Thursday December 8^th  the wrestling team will host Hillside at 6:00 p. Thursday will also serve as Middle School wrestling night where we invite all middle school wrestling teams to come out.

As a reminder:

• All students in grade eleven will continue taking a survey regarding school climate and the overall learning environment at our school (online) thru December 9, 2022. Please encourage your child to take the survey seriously and answer questions honestly if he/she has not already done. We are at a 5.9% participation rate. Out of 392 juniors, only 23 have taken the survey. Thank you for your participation and sharing your voice.
• The ACT Fall WorkKeys assessment make-ups will be administered to our 12th grade CTE concentrators thru December 9.  Participation rate thus far is 67%. Students do your part.

That said, parents please continue to help us enforce the DPS Code of Conduct by ensuring that your student adheres to the policies and procedures set forth. Students show your school pride by wearing our school colors on Friday. I will see each of you at the River tomorrow. Go forth and make it a great evening. Roll Pirates Roll! Thank you.
