Good afternoon RHS families,

This is Dr. Woods-Weeks calling with the weekly update. I trust you had   an enjoyable and relaxing Thanksgiving Holiday weekend with family and friends and that you took some time to get rejuvenated and recharged so we can have a strong finish to the semester. School will resume tomorrow, Monday, November 28^th at the regular time.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing PTA for providing turkeys for our thanksgiving baskets.

Congratulations to wrestlers, Daniel Dickerson, and Valerio Luftig as they won their weight classes in the Jim Key invitational this past Saturday.  

Winter sports are back in full force this week. Basketball will host Wake Forest Wednesday at home on November 30^th .  JV Boys at 4:30 pm, Varsity Girls at 6:00 pm, and Varsity Boys at 7:30 pm. 

On Thursday,  December 1^st the wrestling team will host Northern Durham at 6:00 pm in a highly anticipated rivalry match.  Friday, December 2^nd , basketball will host its second home game of the week against Orange High.  JV Boys at 4:30 pm, Varsity Girls at 6:00 pm, and Varsity Boys at 7:30 pm. Tickets are on sale now via www.ticketspicket.com.

Please join me in welcoming and congratulating our new data manager, Mr. Bryan Garcia. Mr. Garcia has been serving as our back up data manager since June. He has officially been promoted to our current vacant data manager position. Welcome!

Also join me in welcoming back to Riverside, Ms. Tiffany Morgan as a science teacher. She will begin her duties tomorrow.

The School Improvement team will meet Wednesday, November 30^th in the Media Center at 6:00 pm.

Progress reports will be distributed  December 2, 2022.

The Orchestra Concert will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, in the auditorium. Please come out and support our students. Mark your Calendar!

As a reminder:

• All students in grade eleven will continue taking a survey regarding school climate and the overall learning environment at our school (online) thru December 9, 2022. Please encourage your child to take the survey seriously and answer questions honestly if he/she has not already done. 
• The ACT Fall WorkKeys assessment will be administered to our 12th grade CTE concentrators thru December 9.  
• Senior makeup picture day is Tuesday, November 29^th. The schedule will be shared tomorrow. Seniors govern yourselves accordingly. Mark your Calendar!

That said, parents please continue to help us enforce the DPS Code of Conduct by ensuring that your student adheres to the policies and procedures set forth. Students show your school pride by wearing our school colors on Friday. I will see each of you at the River tomorrow. Go forth and make it a great evening. Roll Pirates Roll! Thank you.
