A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Jacobs and Ms. Stone for representing our school at the Showcase of Schools on Saturday at the Convention Center. You represented us well!

Also, congratulations to Grayson Goff for being accepted to UNC Charlotte and UNC Greensboro, and to Wyatt Rawlings for his acceptance to UNC Greensboro University!

Hats off to RHS for surpassing the $1 million in scholarship offers. This is only the beginning. Stay tuned for more to come.

Congratulations to the men’s basketball team for their first win of the season.

As a reminder:

  • The Student Climate Survey administration window opened on Monday, November 14 - Friday, December 9. All students in grade 11 are asked to participate. This survey will help our school learn more about the school’s climate and safety and to help make our school better along with supporting student success. To date our participation rate is zero. Please encourage your child to take the survey seriously and answer questions honestly. The survey should take no more than 15-20 minutes to complete. Students will access the survey via School Climate Survey 2022-23: https://survey.k12insight.com/r/MRrYIR. Thank you for your help and support with our Student Climate Survey.
  • The ACT Fall WorkKeys assessment will be administered to our 12th grade CTE concentrators November 14 - December 9.
  • The Final “EOY” Benchmark window opened November 16-22. We must have 100% participation to determine where we are and what we need to do to finish the semester strong. Currently, we are at 72.43% participation. If your student(s) has not taken their benchmark in Math 1, Math 3, English 2, and/or Biology, please ensure they are in school Monday and Tuesday to participate. Parents we need your help to meet the goal. Together we can do it!
  • All graduating students for all ceremonies must purchase a cap and gown for graduation. You do NOT have to buy anything else. All other items are optional. Click on this link: Please share this link if students are only interested in buying the cap and gown.
  • Senior makeup picture day is November 29th. Mark your Calendar!
  • The SGA is hosting their annual Thanksgiving basket drive. All donations will be collected in second period classes. The second period class with the most donations will win a Chick-fi-la breakfast from the SGA. See Ms. Minnick for more details.
  • Parents and students, please nominate a teacher for the PTA Pirate Hook Award. This award goes to any teacher or worker who has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

That said, parents please continue to help us enforce the DPS Code of Conduct by ensuring that your student adheres to the policies and procedures set forth. Students show your school pride by wearing our school colors on Friday. I will see each of you at the River tomorrow. Go forth and make it a great evening. Roll Pirates Roll! Thank you.
