Good afternoon RHS families,
This is Dr. Woods-Weeks calling with the weekly update. Congratulations to the theater students under the tutelage of Ms. Taylor and Mr. Holley for a magnificent presentation of “A Ghost for Rosanda.” It was enjoyed by all.
As a reminder:
October 17th - 21st – CFNC College Application Week!
- There are many NC Schools waiving application fees on Monday, October 17th. For more information go to CFNC.org or see Ms. Schmaltz. Please do not miss this opportunity!
- Beginning Monday, every senior is assigned a time to come work with Ms. Schmaltz on applications. M-W, we are visiting English classrooms. Th-Fri., every senior that Does NOT take English, is assigned a 45-minute time slot to come work in the Media Center. Please see the schedule in Canvas and govern yourselves accordingly.
- Tuesday, October 18th – Pre-ACT will be administered to all eligible 10th grade students.
- The RHS Fall Blood drive will take place Tuesday, October 18th. To sign up visit: https://riversideptsa.wordpress.com/rhs-blood-drive/
- SAT/ACT Prep Seminar from Emily K Center – will be held October 20th, 7:00-8:00 pm. More information is coming soon.
- Senior Portraits signups are now available. Senior portraits will take place on October 24 and 25 and are by appointment only. Please sign up at www.prestigeportraits.com
- Dual enrollment opportunity (CCP) juniors and seniors: Are you interested in taking college courses tuition-free while in high school during the spring semester? If so, please sign up for a CCP information session via zoom. Attending an informational session is mandatory to join CCP. You will learn about the various pathways, admission requirements, application process, deadlines and much more. Please contact Mr. Jones, our college liaison for more information.
- The School Improvement Team will meet on Wednesday, October 26th at 5:00 p.m. Mark your Calendar!
Further, you may stop by and get your Ticket to play for winter sports. We will be in the main lobby for the first 30 minutes of SMART Lunch and there will be one Every Monday in October, thereafter.
Volleyball Senior Night is Tuesday, October 18, 2022, against Cary High School. JV will compete at 5:00 pm and Varsity at 6:15 pm.
Also, there will be a swim team interest meeting Tuesday, October 18th at 4:30 pm in Mrs. Minnick’s Classroom after school.
Lastly, the big Homecoming football game is Friday, October 21st against Chapel Hill High School. Game time is 7:00 pm, and tickets are on sale now at www.ticketspicket.com. Reminder: We will observe DPS clear bag policy.
Next week is Spirit Week! Our Homecoming Theme days are:
- Monday - Pajama Day
- Tuesday – Duo Day
- Wednesday – Celebrity Day
- Thursday – Throwback Thursday (9th grade – 70s; 10th grade 80s; 11th grade 90s; and seniors 00s).
- Friday – Pirate Pride
Students, show your school spirit by participating fully each day. This should be a very exciting week.
That said, parents please continue to help us enforce DPS’ Code of Conduct by ensuring that your student adheres to the policies and procedures set forth. Students show your school pride by wearing our school colors on Friday. I will see each of you at the River tomorrow. Roll Pirates Roll! Thanks.
