W.G. Pearson Learning Center will close early today (January 7, 2021)

An employee working at W.G. Pearson Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. Under DPS’s COVID-19 protocols, the W.G. Pearson Elementary facility will be closed for two business days and the W.G. Pearson Learning Center will close early today, Thursday, Jan. 7. to allow for contact tracing to ensure that no Learning Center students or staff came in close contact with the employee. The Learning Center will reopen on Monday, Jan. 11.
The DPS meal distribution program out of W.G. Pearson will operate as normal today.
The Durham County Department of Public Health and DPS are identifying individuals who may have come into close contact with these employees, and the health department will reach out to those individuals or, in the case of students, their parents or guardians, to provide guidance on whether they should self-isolate or undergo COVID-19 testing. Close contact is defined by the health department as spending 15 minutes or greater within six feet.
