Jordan High School is excited to announce Derek Ross as their new head men’s basketball coach. Coach Ross comes to Jordan High School with over 14 years of coaching experience that spans middle school, high school, and summer programs. He has coached and trained over 750 athletes ranging from elementary to professional players. In his 14 years of coaching, his teams have never had a losing season. Coach Ross is no stranger to Jordan High School as he served as an assistant coach with the women’s program last year that finished the season with an 11-3 record.
Coach Ross earned BS degree from the University of Mount Olive and his currently pursuing his master’s degree from North Carolina Central University. Coach Ross is an AIC certified coach through the NFHS.
Coach Ross was a three-year starter for Southern Durham High School, served as senior captain, and helped lead the Spartans to a number one state ranking for three years. Coach Ross is the son of Paulette and Andre Ross, who received Coach of the Year honors at J.F. Webb High School.
Derek resides in Durham with his wife, Alicia and their three children, Deondre, Derek Ross Jr., and Aaliyah. Congratulations to Coach Ross!
